Genesis

Often we hear of neglect and abuse, but this story is different. This is a story of hope for the residents of Hazlehurst Genesis Healthcare Center as well as one lucky stray dog. Now known as “Genesis”, a lucky yellow lab mix found his way onto the property and into the hearts of the residents. Cheryl McCollum, a resident (seen pictured here with Genesis), has been his biggest advocate and one of his main caregivers. The residents and employees rallied together and requested Genesis become one of the family. They also raised funds for vaccinations and a checkup. SOAPS donated a dog house, flea medicine, and heartworm prevention. This is a great story and a testimony to how members of the community can come together for a greater cause.
