Meet Mercy

August 29, 2024 | Posted by Stephanie Reese

Mercy was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road following another dog. Locals say she had been roaming the area for a few weeks with no owner located. She was found in a ditch by a deputy that was patrolling the area late that evening. He called one of our members who immediately got Mercy to one of our veterinarians, where it was discovered that not only had this poor dog been struck by a car, but some time prior to that she had also been shot!  The bullet went through the spinal cord and she also had a fractured humerus, likely from the car incident. Initially the outlook was bleak. Mercy was in pain, running a fever, unable to stand, and had no control over the muscles in her rectum. Fast forward and with two weeks of care this sweet girl is walking on her own, able to control her bowels, and is happy and nearly pain free!
