Membership in SOAPS gives animal lovers an opportunity “to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.” Members meet 5 times a year (the second Monday of September, November, January, March, and May) to discuss issues of animal welfare, projects, and fund raisers. All members are encouraged to attend these meetings and take part in the activities related to the on-going fulfillment of the SOAPS mission in the Toombs County area.

Volunteers from the membership are critical in manning adoption days at the shelter, contacting individuals and businesses to sponsor the spay/neuter program, and acting as a voice for the animal protection society at schools, clubs, and other events. Members can also volunteer to foster pets at their home, assist at the city run shelter by donating food or visiting animals there to help with socialization, and facilitate adoptions by contacting family or friends who might be willing to give a home to an unwanted pet. Active members receive a copy of the organizations newsletter, PAWS.
